Live call translation for multilingual conversations
Keep a conversation moving when you and the person you are speaking with use different languages. YeapTel combines live call translation, text translation and Interpreter Mode with its business calling tools.
Choose the right translation tool
During a call
Use the Translate control in a supported YeapTel call to select languages and translate the conversation while you talk.
For messages
Use text translation when reading or composing supported SMS and MMS conversations. External messaging eligibility and charges still apply.
In person
Use Interpreter Mode for listening with translated captions, or its two-way Conversation mode when people take turns speaking.
Prepare for a translated call
- Check your connection and audio. Use a reliable internet connection, allow microphone access and choose a quiet setting.
- Choose the conversation languages. Select from the supported languages shown in the translation controls.
- Turn on translation. Use the call's Translate control when it is available. Speak clearly and leave room for the other person to respond.
- Confirm important details. Repeat names, dates, amounts and instructions when needed. Background noise, pronunciation and specialized terms can affect automated translation.
Make multilingual work easier
A team can use call translation to discuss an appointment or a customer request across languages. Interpreter Mode supports a different situation: listening to a meeting, class or in-person conversation, with translated captions or two-way spoken conversation. Choose the mode that fits the interaction instead of starting a phone call for every situation.
Automated translation can make mistakes. For decisions that require certified interpretation or exact specialist terminology, arrange an appropriate human interpreter.
Review translation usage before you start
Translation is a separate service from basic calling. Included translation minutes, translated-message allowances and available add-ons vary by plan. An unlimited calling allowance does not make every translation service unlimited. Check the current pricing and your account's usage before a long session.
Common questions
Is Interpreter Mode the same as call translation?
No. Call translation works within supported calls. Interpreter Mode is designed for listening or two-way in-person conversation and does not require you to start a phone call.
Which languages can I use?
The language selector in the relevant tool shows its current supported choices. Availability can differ between speech, captions and text translation.
Can I combine translation with business calling?
Yes. YeapTel provides both calling and translation tools in the same service. Review your plan's included features and translation allowances to choose the combination your team needs.
